1488327 Discharging quenched coke GOSHDARST VSES INST PO PROEKTIROVAN PREDPRIATY KOXOKHIMICHE PROMYSHLEN "GIPROKOX" 16 Jan 1976 01776/76 Heading F4B [Also in Division B8] A plant for dry quenching of coke comprises the discharge apparatus shown, the latter comprising a delivery bin 1 communicating with. a chamber for dry quenching of coke located thereabove, a metering bin 3 communicating with the delivery bin 1 through the outlet of the latter, which outlet is controlled by a cut-off gate 2, a hopper 4 located within and sealed to the bin 3, the outlet 5 of hopper 4 being closable by a trough-shaped vessel 6 mounted on a pivotal shaft 8 attached to the walls of the bin 3, the vessel 6 being rotatable through an arc 7 to the position shown in phantom, in which position the vessel 6 is filled with liquid from a source of liquid (not shown) communicating therewith, thereby forming an hydraulic seal or lock which closes the hopper outlet 5 so that inspection and maintenance work can be carried out on the discharge apparatus after the latter has been emptied of coke.
