Abstract

1487527 Charging blast furnaces DES ANCIENS ETABS PAUL WURTH SA 2 July 1976 [18 July 1975] 27720/76 Addition to 1419349 Heading F4B In a distribution shoot for a shaft furnace having overlapping wear plates as described in the Parent Specification, the wear plates have means to retain some of the charge so that in use the wearing surfaces are at least partly covered by the material. Ridges 14, coated with the abrasion resistant material covering the exposed surface of the wear plates are provided on each overlapping wear plate. The first wear plate 12 at the charging end has three ridges, the neat plates 10 which are arranged close together have each a single ridge at the overlapping edge, while the more widely spaced plates 11 at the discharge end have two ridges 14. The shoot is formed with a double shell over the part exposed to the greatest heat, to form a space 22 supplied with coolant through the suspension of the shoot.
