Abstract

1487505 Watering plants V C HANSEN 4 Dec 1975 [9 Dec 1974] 49861/75 Heading A1E Apparatus for watering plants provides a constant minimum supply of water and increases the supply when the temperature and/ or light intensity increases; A supply line 11 has three resistance hoses 4, 12, 13 connected thereto, the hose 12 providing a constant flow to a collecting tank 10 sufficient to satisfy the minimum requirements of the plants. Hose 13 incorporates a valve 14 which is gradually opened as the temperature and light intensity increases. The hose 4 provides a constant flow at a low rate to a container 5 where it displaces liquid fertilizer 6 through a filter 8 and a tube 9 so as to supply fertilizer to the collecting tank .10 when the level in container 8 rises above the top of tube 9. The collecting tank 10 is provided with a siphon tube 18 having an entry port 19 and leading to drip hoses 23 supplying individual plants. In dull weather at moderate temperatures the valve 14 is completely closed and the tank 10 may empty at six hourly intervals. When the valve 14 is fully open the flow to tank 10 can be increased four fold. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 958150.
