Abstract

1487342 Fire-resisting panel O A BECKER 29 Aug 1974 [30 Aug 1973] 37872/74 Heading A5A [Also in Divisions B5 and El] A laminated panel (Divs. B5 & El) has one surface formed of a corrugated sheet, the corrugations being filled with asbestos and then coated with plaster to form a wall of a room. A water-filled pipe with thermostatically controlled openings is provided in the plaster so as to soak the plaster and asbestos in the event of a fire. A similar pipe may be provided on the front surface of the plaster so as to form a curtain of water trickling down the wall. The plaster may be coated with a carbonate and the water is arranged to pass through a container having soluble chemicals which re-act with the carbonate to produce carbon dioxlde to assist in extinguishing the fire.
