Abstract

1486527 Offshore structures CHEVRON RESEARCH CO 2 July 1975 [29 July 1974] 27935/75 Addition to 1417895 Heading E1H An offshore structure, Fig. 1, for use in locations where ice forms, has a support portion 10 which is coated to reduce the tendency of the ice to adhere thereto. The surface may also be maintained above freezing point by heating sea-water in tanks 24. The heat is exhaust heat from gas turbine engines 34, 36 and is transferred to the tanks by heat exchangers 42, 44. The coating is a halocarbon resin or a nylon resin. Fig. 3 shows an embodiment in which heating panels 104 replace the tanks 24. The support structure may be made from the coating material, Fig. 5 (not shown). support structure may be
