Abstract

1486312 Fluoride and borate free flux for casting H J EITEL 6 Sept 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 38939/74 Heading C7M In casting metals such as steel a mould additive is used which consists of at least one known component such as the oxides of Si, Al, Ca, Mg, Na, K and a flux comprising a compound or powder mixture containing TiO 2 and which is free of fluorides and borates. The flux preferably contains 20-35 wt. per cent TiO 2 and may also contain SiO 2 and/or Na 2 CO 3 and/or K 2 CO 3 and/or CaO.
