The handle e, Fig. 1, is pivoted upon a bolt c and is slotted longitudinally so that the handle may be moved to lie wholly over the guard-plate a when the razor is out of use. A square corner n on the handle acts as a stop when the handle is turned at right-angles to the guardplate a. Instead of arranging the handle to slide on the bolt c, it may consist of telescopic parts sliding one within another. In another arrangement, the handle is formed of a number of pivoted links o, Fig. 6, arranged on the " lazy-tongs " principle. The clamping-plate may be secured in place by a wing nut 3, Fig. 11, engaging a screw 2 passing through the blade t and through the clamping-plate q; or a screw projecting downwards from the clamping-plate may be engaged by a screwed socket b, Fig. 11<a>, upon which the handle e is pivoted. In another arrangement, the clamping-plate q is hinged to the guard-plate a and is held in its clamping position by a spring clip or other fastening. One or both of the plates a, q, Fig. 11, are formed with narrow transverse ribs d forming channels for the passage of soap &c. The razor may be so constructed that the blades are only about half as wide as the blades usually employed.
