Abstract

1485796 Touch responsive switching systems ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 13 Dec 1974 [14 Dec 1973 54040/74 Heading G1N [Also in Division H2] An electronic lamp brightness control arrangement comprises a semi-conductor switching device in a main current path which is periodically switched on and off via a phase control circuit whose angle of current flow can be varied by means of a control element which has a plurality of finger touch contact panels at least one or each of which serves as an on-off switch, and are associated with control or glow lamps or pilot lights. In the dimmer circuit of Fig. 3 an A.C. voltage stabilizer consists of two opposed Zener diodes Z1, Z2, and a bidirectional constant current source controlled by the touch contact panels 1 charges the phase control capacitor Cc and controls the setting of the phase angle. The bi-directional current source includes transistors T1, T2 and one of the potentiometers R1, R2, R3 as well as a rectified GB producing a necessary supply voltage on Cb for a digital circuit E. It is via the base electrodes of the transistors Tr that the respective potentiometer R is switched on or off by a panel 1 to vary the charging or discharging current of the phase control capacitor Cc.
