Abstract
1485175 Bundling cables W A PLUMMER 26 Sept 1974 [29 Sept 1973] 41975/74 Heading H2C [Also in Division E2] A sleeve 2, for covering elongate articles such as conduits, wires and cables, is provided with two interengageable flexible fastening members 1, 9 for closing the sleeve, each member 1, 9 comprising an elongate base member 4 which extends along substantially the whole length of the sleeve and which is provided with a hook 3, or 10, extending along substantially the whole length of one longitudinal edge of the base member and with a retaining member 6, or 11, which extends along substantially the whole length of the base member and which extends from the base member towards the free end of the hook 3 or 10, the retaining member 6, or 11, terminating at a distance from the free end to allow limited relative movement of the fastening members in the circumferential direction of the sleeve when the members are interengaged. Preferably the hook, the base member, and the retaining member of a sleeve are formed as a single member. As shown in Fig. 2, co-operating fastening members 1, 9 are attached, e.g. by bonding, welding, or sewing, to a sleeve 2 which with the interposition of a resilient lining 8, e.g. of soft plastics-based foam, is fastened around a cable, or bundle of cables 7, the sleeve having an overlapping portion 2b. The interengaged hooks 3, 10 can normally be released by relative rotational movement.
