Abstract

1485018 Earth-moving bowl type scrapers CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 8 Nov 1974 [19 Nov 1973] 48454/74 Heading E1F In an earth-moving bowl type scraper 13 the actuating means 53, 54, 60 for the movable floor means 28 of the bowl of the scraper are located entirely between the ground surface supporting the scraper and a plane extending through the axis of the rear wheel axle of the bowl parallel to said surface and include a dolly 54 supported for movement along a pair of guide tracks 37 defined by beam means 34 of the axle carrying frame 33, 34 at the rear of the scraper bowl. Preferably the actuating means comprise a ram 60 pivotally attached to the rear of bowl and to the dolly 54, which is in the form of a box frame supported by rollers 56 in tracks 36 formed by the opposed U section beams 3 of the frame 33, 34, which is provided with a push pad. A link 53 extends between the dolly and the floor means 28, which is pivoted within the bowl by said actuating means about a transverse axis 31. The centres of curvature of the rear wall 21 of the bowl lie on the axis 31. U.S. Specifications 3563328 and 3452458 are referred to.
