1484194 Matrix displays and circuits therefor OWENS ILLINOIS Inc 15 Aug 1974 35918/74 Heading G5C Display apparatus comprises a gas discharge display/memory panel with crossed conductor arrays consisting of row and column conductors 13, 16 in a central display area V and border conductors 14, 15, 17, 18; addressing circuits 20, 22 providing write and erase pulses floating on sustain pulses from sources V SX , V SY which are supplied with D.C. potential V SS from an I.C. regulator V SS REG; and sources V BX , V BY which supply write and sustain potentials to the border conductors and receive D.C. potentials #V 1 , #V 2 above V SS from I.C. regulator #VREG. The output of each regulator is controlled by variable resistors 42, 47 and by switches K1, K2. Opening K1 changes the output of V SS REG from 0 to V SS , opening K2 changes the output of #VREG from V SS +#V 1 to V SS + #V 2 which respectively fire and sustain border cells. Switch K2 may be operated whenever border cells have to be ignited by a control circuit operated manually by a push button 60, by a photodetector or automatically.
