Abstract

1315375 Matrix displays OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 1 May 1970 [2 May 1969] 20992/70 Heading G5C [Also in Division H1] The row and column conductors 11, 12 of a memory/display panel are supplied with opposite phase sustaining voltages and each conductor has an associated integrated circuit 20 or 21 which normally passes the sustaining voltage to its conductor 11, 12 and which responds to a low level logic input 57 to add a high level voltage V F or V T to the sustaining voltage to write or erase data. The positive half-cycles of the sustaining voltage are passed through the collector-emitter path of a row transistor Q2 while the negative half-cycles pass via the collector-base of Q2 and a diode D2. A positiveinput pulse 57 turns on Q1 so that the collector potential falls. Complementary transistors and opposite polarities are used for the column conductors.
