Abstract

1483892 Dispensing sealing materials A A SMITH 5 Aug 1974 [5 May 1973] 10672/73 Heading F1R [Also in Division F2] A device for filling a sealant extrusion gun 13, forming the subject-matter of Specification 1483893, comprises a wheeled platform 1 having mounted thereon a cylinder 9 for sealant, a piston 8 for extruding the sealant therefrom, an hydraulic ram 7 for actuating the piston 8, an hydraulic fluid pump 30 for supplying the ram, and an air pump 31 for pre-pressurizing the extrusion gun 13. The cylinder 9 is provided with a spring-loaded outlet valve 11 which is opened by the insertion of the gun 13. The air and hydraulic-fluid pumps are operated by means of a foot pad 19 mounted on arms 17, (18), Fig. 5 (not shown). The foot pad is provided with a spring-toggle, Fig. 7 (not shown), having abutting inclined faces (71), (72) which disengage at a predetermined torque on the arms to limit the pressure of the hydraulic fluid and compressed air. The pivotal connections of the piston rods 28, 29 of the pumps are adjustable to vary the limiting torques and pressures. A diaphragm valve 36 allows compressed air to be generated first to charge the gun 13, and then, when a sufficient air pressure has been reached, to operate a slide valve (41), Fig. 4 (not shown), of the diaphragm valve to allow the passage of hydraulic fluid from the pump 30 to an hydraulic-fluid reservoir 6 which surrounds the ram 7.
