Abstract
1482905 Electrographic toners TOKYO PRINTING INK MFG CO Ltd 12 Aug 1974 [13 Aug 1973] 35521/74 Heading C3P [Also in Division G2] The resinous ingredient of a positively charged electrographic toner contains from 5-25% by weight of polymerized 2-vinylpyridine, and has a melting point not exceeding 170‹ C. The resinous ingredient may consist of a copolymer of 2-vinylpyridine, or of a homopolymer or copolymer of 2-vinylpyridine blended with a compatible thermoplastic resin. In the examples the 2-vinylpyridine is copolymerized with styrene or with a mixture of methyl and butyl methacrylates. The compatible thermoplastic resin used is a proprietary styrene resin. Pigments exemplified are carbon black, benzidine yellow and phthalocyanine blue. The toner particles are mixed with an iron dust carrier.
