Abstract

1417595 Electrophotographic liquid developers FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd and MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL CO Inc 15 June 1973 [16 June 1972] 28703/73 Heading C3P [Also in Division G2] An electrophotographic liquid developer comprises a carrier liquid having a resistance above 10<SP>10</SP> ohm cm. and a dielectric constant below 3, in which is dispersed 0À01-2 wt. per cent of a toner prepared by graft polymerizing on to particles of a pigment, a monomer of each of the formulae (in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each H or CH 3 ; X is -COOC n H 2n+1 ; n is 6-20; Y is -CONHCH 2 -Z 2 or -CO-Z 2 ; Z 1 is H or 1-5 C alkyl; Z 2 is N-morpholinyl). The carrier liquid may be an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon or a chlorofluorohydrocarbon. In the examples the pigment is carbon black either alone or mixed with alkali Blue or Phthalocyamine Blue. Known polarization control agents may be added to the developers.
