Abstract

1482687 Cladding CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS AG 18 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 54590/74 Addition to 1456731 Heading E1W Overhead cladding comprises flexible fabric membranes fixed to a supporting network of, e.g. cables by clamping means comprising a pair of clamping plates, the edges of two adjacent membranes being sandwiched between the clamping plates to form a weathertight seal and to maintain the membranes in tension. The fabric may be a P.V.C. coated polyester fabric, or may be made up from cotton, synthetic fabric or polyethylene, into a multi-layer or single-layer fabric. Spacers 1À3 separating the membranes from the network may be rigid or elastic, and the edge of a membrane may be wrapped around an optionally reinforced circular-sectioned cord of, e.g., vulcanised rubber, preferably EPDM rubber, a steel cable or a hemp rope. Transverse seams are formed by folding, e.g. (Fig. 4, not shown), and spaced-apart clamping plates may be bridged by additional fabric covering or sealing strips (5À1), Fig. 5 (not shown).
