1482589 Manhole covers R DUMORTIER 23 Dec 1974 [27 Dec 1973] 55595/74 Heading E1G A manhole cover 3 has a depending peripheral flange 13 seating on a resilient sealing gasket 12 confined in a groove 10 of the frame 2 between an outer enclosure wall 5 and an inner wall 6 defining the manhole, crushing of the gasket 2 under heavy loads being limited by a plurality of internal setback bosses 14 on the flange 13 which engage the inner wall 6 of the frame.
