Abstract
1482291 Centrifugal separator PROCESS ENG CO SA 13 May 1975 [13 May 1974] 20215/75 Addition to 1172324 Heading B2P In an apparatus of the kind described in the parent Specification, the funnel shaped bodies 4 acting as upwardly convergent annular foam breakers are disposed within a housing 1 upon the rotatable shaft 3 which is supported by bearings 6 and 7 respectively located below and above the bodies 4. The latter are mounted upon a perforated enlarged hollow portion 5 of the shaft. The housing 1 is mounted by means of a flange upon a fermentation vessel 2 with its lower end open for the admission of foam and has an outlet 11 for gases which escape via the perforations 5' in the shaft portion 5. The liquid is thrown outwardly by the rotating bodies 4 against deflector strips 10 and runs back into the vessel 2. The lower bearing 6 is secured to the vessel and the upper bearing 7 to the housing 1.
