Abstract
1431802 Solvent extraction; seals BLAWKNOX CHEMICAL PLANTS INC 2 May 1973 20769/73 Heading B1Q An apparatus for extraction of components from particulate matter with a solvent has a rotor assembly 12 positioned within a stationary chamber 14. The rotor is divided radially by partitions 66 into a series of cells 64. Particulate material is introduced into compartment A and is contacted with liquid introduced by nozzle assembly 50. The liquid drains into a collecting zone A' in the annular trough 24 from which it is withdrawn by outlet 34 in collecting zones 32. The material advances in the extracter 10 by rotation of the assembly 12 and is successively contacted with solvent streams at various positions but is discontinued at a point upstream of the discharge chute 28 to allow drainage before discharge. The bottom edges of each wall of the divider wall assemblies 66 is sealed with a wiper which contacts the stationary bottom wall 22 and prevents loss of particulate material while permitting flooding and drainage of each cell.
