Abstract

1482258 Aqueous dispersion ENGLISH CLAYS LOVERING POCHIN & CO Ltd 18 June 1976 25494/76 Addition to 1463974 Headings C1A and C1M A mixture comprising a particulate solid material and water is deflocculated with a water-soluble deflocculating agent to form an aqueous slurry which is dewatered to form a cake of reduced water content compared to the slurry, and the cake is subjected to mechanical work comprising at least one cycle of applying and relaxing stress to the cake to form a second aqueous slurry, wherein the solid material is precipitated calcium carbonate or a ground, fritted ceramic glaze composition. The deflocculated mixture is preferably dewatered in a pressure filter, and the mechanicl work may be performed by a jaw crusher or dough mixer.
