Abstract
1482227 Luffing arm apparatus FORALKRANAR AB 17 June 1975 25793/75 Heading B8H A load handling apparatus comprises a frame (1), Fig. 1 (not shown), a head 2 mounted on the frame for rotation about a vertical axis, an arm, formed of inner and outer portions 3, 4, pivotally mounted on the head for movement in a vertical plane and a load holder 5 mounted on the free end of the arm. The inner portion 3 of the arm comprises parallel links 7, 8 connected at their ends, through joints 9-12, by inner and outer links 14, 13 to form a first parallelogram and a third link 15 parallel to links 7, 8 and pivotally connected at its ends to a connector 21 and to a rack 17. The outer portion of the arm comprises an extension 23 of the link 13 and a parallel link 24 connected at their ends, through joints 11, 21, 26, 27, by the connector 21 and the holder 5 to form a further parallelogram whereby the attitude of the holder 5 remains constant regardless of the inclination of the arm. The pivot 12, between the links 8, 14 is mounted on the rack 18 which is vertically guided between guides 16, 17 and in mesh with a driven sprocket 19 to effect its vertical displacement. A pair of rollers 29 are mounted on the other link 7 of the inner arm portion and are guided by horizontal-rails 30, 31 whereby if the pivot 12 is positionally fixed then the holder will execute a horizontal translatory motion on manual shifting of the holder 5. Similarly if the rollers 29 are stationary, then movement of the rack 18 will result in a vertical translatory motion of the holder. The rollers 29 may be replaced by a motor driven rack to effect horizontal translatory motion of the holder. The link 8 has an extension to which a counter weight 34 is attached substantially in alignment with the axis of rotation of the head 2.
