Abstract

1481107 Feeding sheets XEROX CORP 18 July 1974 [19 July 1973 (2)] 31137/74 Heading B8R Original sheets 7 are fed to platen 6 for copying, and return as sheets 8, which are separated from the sheets 7 by a liftable bail 32. The bail 32 is lifted by arms 36 when pivoted pawl 50 engages and moves serrated sector 44, or by operation of a friction clutch in which a movable element is loaded by a spring. Each time the bail is lifted through the same angle, irrespective of the height of the pole. When two sheets are accidentally fed by roller 14, and one is rejected by roller 17, because its slipping clutch drive is not overruled by friction, detectors cause the bail to be lifted and the misfed sheet to be returned.
