Abstract
1480414 Audible alarm device P R MALLORY & CO Inc 30 Sept 1974 [28 Sept 1973] 42436/74 Heading H4J An audible alarm device includes a solid state amplifier drive circuit 12 for energizing a piezo electric transducer 18 with a voltage regulator 14 to supply power to the drive circuit. As described the alarm device is mounted on a panel 58 by a threaded stem 68 and collar 70 with a horn 60 adhesively secured or a push fit in stem 68. Piezo electric element 18 is attached to a ring shaped projection of stem 68 by flexible adhesive 76, e.g. a room temperature curing silicone rubber, and is electrically connected to printed circuit board 80 which is held in two part housing 66, 88 by an epoxy potting compound 86. The voltage regulator 14 includes a Zener diode 44 to supply a reference potential and is supplied by flexible leads 52, 54 anchored in the potting compound 86. The drive circuit includes an oscillator with a step up transformer 30 feeding the transducer 18. Capacitors 27 and 33 are provided to suppress high frequency oscillations and ensure that the circular bender piezo electric element oscillates at its fundamental frequency.
