Abstract

1480369 Ratchet clutches A SCHILD SA 20 Nov 1974 [21 Nov 1973] 50363/74 Heading F2C [Also in Division G3] In an automatic watch winding mechanism (see Division G3), a one-way clutch which couples an oscillatory arbor 11 to gears 20, 21 to wind a ratchet wheel 2 comprises a wheel 16 freely mounted on the arbor 11 and having outer and inner toothings 17 and 19a, and a locking plate 26 which rotates with the arbor and co-operates with the toothing 19a to lock the wheel 16 to the arbor in the winding direction. The toothing 19a is a ratchet toothing and the plate 26 has ratchet beaks 27, 28. The straight sides of an elongated central aperture in the plate engage opposed flats 25 on the arbor 11. In the idle direction of oscillation, the plate 26 is reciprocated as its beaks alternately strike the curved rear faces of the teeth 19a. In the winding direction, the plate carries the wheel 16 with the arbor 11 so that toothing 17 drives the gear 20.
