Abstract

1480311 Automatic control of current collector position LONDON TRANSPORT EXECUTIVE 31 Oct 1975 [8 Jan 1975] 767/75 Heading G3R [Also in Division B7] A vehicle current collector 7 is caused to track its associated overhead power lines 8, 8' by providing means on the collector plate for detecting lateral movement between the plate and the lines and using this to operate an unspecified lateral correcting drive 10. The detector comprises contact strips, Fig. 2 (not shown) which are normally on either side of each line and make contact with it only when a deviation occurs. The system eliminates flanges on the main collector shoes, enabling junctions in the overhead lines to have electrically isolating and switching sections only, i.e. no mechanical guidance is necessary, Fig. 4 (not shown).
