Abstract

1478824 Refuse containers HSING-CHIN LIU AND SHWU-HUEY HAWANG 2 Jan 1976 00073/76 Heading A4A A refuse container comprises a body 1 to which is pivotably secured a lid 2 formed of two spaced apart plates 6, 7, the plates having aligned apertures (8, 9) through which the refuse may be passed, there being a gate 10, 10' between the plates for closing the aligned apertures. The container includes a horizontal partition 3 with a central slot 4 so that rolls of refuse bag liners may be stored beneath the partition and drawn for use upwards through the slot. As shown, the gate in the lid 2 comprises two semicircular plates 10, 10' able to be moved apart about a pivot 13 so as to open the aligned apertures by the rotation of a cam 14 which is actuated by a foot pedal 18 and linkage 19, 20. A spring 16 returns the gates to the closed position. The container may be rectangular, as shown, or cylindrical in crosssection and it may include an ash tray 29 and magnetic or spring-biased clamps 26 for the turned-over top of the liner bag.
