1478578 Purifying solvents JAPAN EXLAN CO Ltd 24 Sept 1975 [30 Sept 1974] 39207/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division C1] A process for refining a solvent solution containing impurities comprises (a) feeding a solvent solution, containing impurities, which is selected from dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, dimethyl sulphoxide, ethylene carbonate, #-butyrolactone and their aqueous solutions, to a cross-linked dextran bed so that the impurities and solvent are caught in said crosslinked dextran, (b) then passing an eluent in an amount necessary to elute the impurities through said cross-linked dextran bed so that the impurities are eluted together with the eluent, and (c) then further passing an eluent through said cross-linked dextran bed and recovering an eluate containing the solvent. Suitable eluents include water, alcohol and acetone. The solvent solution may be derived from a process for preparing or spinning acrylic polymers.
