Abstract

1478538 Turntable MITSUI SHIPBUILDING and ENG CO Ltd 24 June 1974 [27 June 1973] 27881/74 Heading B8H A turntable for rotation of a heavy load comprises a load-bearing support frame 2 movably mounted on a circular track 4 by mounting frames 3, each frame being provided with expansible units 7, 8 carrying engagement means 14 for engagement with a series of locating members 15 provided around the track 4 so that when means 14 are engaged in appropriate members 15, expansion or contraction of the units 7, 8 effects rotation of the support frame 2. The units 7, 8 comprise piston-and-cylinder arrangements of which piston rods 12 are attached to the frames 3 by universal joints at pins 13, and the cylinders have laterally projecting plates 10 slidable in guides provided in the frames 3 and carry the members 14 in the form of vertical pins retractable by hydraulic piston/cylinder arrangements.
