Abstract
1477613 Everting apparatus; knitting MARVEL SPECIALITY CO INC 11 Feb 1975 [25 Sept 1974] 5716/75 Headings D1K and D1X [Also in Divisions B8 and F2] A string of interconnected socks or other hose from a knitting machine are everted, separated and delivered to a stacking station by apparatus comprising a hollow tubular form 11 connected to a source of vacuum, the string being first loaded on the form and then moved to allow the first sock S 1 to be substantially fully everted in the open mouth of the form, grasping means 17 which hold the doubled over portion of the sock S and means such as a reciprocating pivotal arm 13 which pulls the sock off the form breaking a weak ring r 1 between the socks S 1 and S 2 , the latter suitably being held by hand, and carries the sock to a stacking station 40 where the grasping means are released. To assist in loading the string the form 11 may be connected to a compressed air source and a motor driven roller 20 engage the form in a loading position (broken lines). The grasping means comprise fingers 17a, b which are opened and closed at appropriate times by an overcentre linkage 48. The arm 36 is moved by a pneumatic cylinder 16 which is controlled from a switch 36. The number of cycles of the arm is automatically counted. The connection of the form 11 to compressed air and vacuum is controlled from a switch responsive to the position of the form. The rings r 1 , r 2 etc. interconntcting the hose may be knitted of alginate yarn.
