Abstract
1,034,815. Sheet stacking apparatus. KAYSOR BONDOR Ltd. April 24, 1963 [April 30, 1962], No. 16325/62. Heading B6H. [Also in Division B8] A machine for stacking textile articles comprises arms 6, 7 pivoted on brackets 24, 23 respectively on cross-members 25 of a table 1. At their lower ends the arms are connected by a rod 14 to the piston 15 of a pneumatic cylinder 16, and at their upper ends they carry a gripper comprising a fixed plate 8 with a movable plate 10 attached thereto, biased on to the fixed plate by gravity and held open when in the position of Fig. 1 by a stop 9, on a table 3 adjacent the table 1. In operation the leading edge of articles sewn by a sewing machine 4 on the table 3 is inserted between the plates 8 and 10. Simultaneous with the action of an automatic thread-cutter 5 air is fed to the cylinder 16 whose piston 15 imparts a pivotal movement to arms 6 and 7. At the beginning of the pivotal movement the plate 10 slides off the stop 9 and moves towards the fixed plate 8 to trap the article therebetween. Continued pivotal movement swings the plates and article over the table 1. Near the end of the swing an arm 12 on the table contacts an arm 11 on the plate 10 to release the article and allow it to fall on to the table. The piston 15 then operates a poppet valve 20 which reverses the flow of air into the cylinder 16, thus withdrawing the piston and returning the arms and plates to their original position. The cycle is then repeated to form a stack of articles on the table 1. Brackets 13 on the table may carry a rod to support the stack and facilitate its subsequent folding.
