Abstract

1477332 Ventilators ROTAFLEX (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 7 May 1975 [13 Feb 1974 6559/74 Heading F4V A slot diffuser mounted in a false ceiling comprises side walls 1, 2, a transverse partition 3 subdividing the space between walls 1, 2, an inturned flange on one or both of the side walls to define a discharge slot between the free edges of the flanges, or of the flange and the opposite side wall, and slots 5 in the partition 3, against one or both side walls, each slot 5 being bounded on one side by the associated side wall and being overlapped by the or the nearest flange. The slots 5 may be arranged in groups, adjacent groups being against opposite side walls. Each group is associated with an independently operable slidable damper 7 having locking bolts 8. Each damper is either imperforate and slidable transversely of each of the associated slots 5, or has spaced recesses therein and is slidable longitudinally of the slots 5. The walls 1, 2 and partition 3 may be formed as an extrusion, with slots 5 being punched or machined. In another embodiment, (Figs 6, 7) the walls 1, 2 are defined by the sides of an inverted channel section having spaced air supply slots (11) in its base. Support stirrups (12) are secured to walls 1, 2 and may be combined with transverse partitions (13) at the ends of each active section of the diffuser. The stirrups (12) support partitions 3. The diffusers in the false ceiling may be arranged parallel to or intersecting lighting units. In the latter case, such units and diffusers are interlocked at the intersections to form a support structure for ceiling tiles. Dimensions of the slot diffuser are listed in the specification.
