Abstract
1476225 Electrical mounting box EGATUBE Ltd 24 Oct 1975 [7 Dec 1974] 53013/74 Heading H2E An electrical surface mounting box comprises an attachment member, on which a switch or socket &c. can be attached and a collar adapted to space the switch or socket &c. from a mounting surface and which engages with and fits round the attachment member. In an embodiment the attachment, member 1 has countersunk holes 2 for mounting the member, pillars 3 with threaded bushes 4 for securing a switch or socket &c. (not shown); an earth screw pad 5 and earth terminal position 6 are also provided. The collar 7 is held in correct alignment by pillars 3 and buttress support, 8 and/or by keyway 9 and key 10. The collar has, at one end rounded corners 11A and at the other end squared corners 11B and is reversible so that either end can be used, depending on whether the socket or switch &c. have square or rounded corners. Both parts may have notched lines 13, 15 so that a cut out may be made by sawing, as indicated by dotted lines 14, 16 for fitting cable conduits. When the bore has notched lines the earth screw pad 5 and earth terminal position 6 may be positioned inside the notching 15. In a modification more pillars and/or buttress supports are used for mounting a plurality of sockets and switches &c. Both parts may be made of plastics or metal.
