Abstract

1475876 Dye-sensitized electro-photographic materials OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN NV 9 July 1974 [9 July 1973 31 Jan 1974] 32554/73 and 04496/74 Heading G2C An electro-photographic material contains a photo-conductive layer sensitized by a xanthene dye of Formula:- wherein M 1 and M 2 are H 1 , methyl, ethyl or metal and wherein at least one position ortho to the keto- or M 1 O- group is substituted by a nitro group, the remaining positions being unsubstituted or substituted. Preferred dyes are fluorescein dyes of Formula wherein A is H, Br, I or NO 2 , B is H, Cl, Br, OH or NO 2 and D is H, Cl, Br, one of A or B being NO 2 . The dyes may be admixed with xanthene dyes not containing nitro groups. The specified photoconductor is ZnO preferably in a binder of polyvinyl acetate and styrene/ethyl acrylate copolymer. Processes of using these materials are disclosed in Specification 1475875.
