Abstract

1475875 Sensitized electro-photographic materials OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN NV 9 July 1974 [9 July 1973 15 Nov 1973] 32553/73 and 53088/73 Heading G2C An electro-photographic process wherein an electro-photographic material containing a photoconductive layer sensitized by a dye of Formula or a mesomeric or tantomeric form thereof wherein M 1 and M 2 are H, metal, methyl or ethyl, X is C or sulphoxide, Y 1 and Y 2 are H, halogen, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, nitro, hydroxyl or esterified hydroxyl or together are heterocyclic oxygen, and each remaining position is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, nitro, hydrexyl or esterified hydroxyl provided that one position ortho to the keto - or M 1 O- group or both is nitro substituted; is uniformly charged, imagewise exposed and the latent image is (i) either powder developed and transferred or (ii) transferred and powder developed. Specified dyes are fluoresceins of Formula wherein A is H, nitro, bromine or iodine, B is nitro, H, hydroxyl, bromine or chlorine and D is H, bromine or chlorine, or phthalein dyes of Formula wherein A is H, Br, Cl, OH, Me, OMe or NO 2 , B is NO 2 , Q is H or OH, Y is H or NO 2 , and D is H, Br or I. ZnO is the specified photo-conductor. Electro-photographic materials sensitized by fluorescein dyes of the first Formula wherein Y 1 and Y 2 , together represent O and X is carbon and M 1 and M 2 are as specified above are disclosed in App. No. 32554/73.
