Abstract
1475452 Treating sludges KUBOTA TEKKO KK 22 Jan 1975 [2 Feb 1974 10 May 1974 26 Nov 1974] 2858/75 Heading ClC Sewage or waste sludge is treated by initially heating the sludge in a heat exchanger wherein previously treated sludge is used to heat the untreated sludge, supplying the preheated sludge to an oxidizing chamber of a reactor partitioned into the oxidizing chamber and a heat concentrating chamber, the sludge in the oxidizing chamber being mixed with steam so that its temperature is 130-150‹ C. and with a volume of air 10-30 times that of the sludge being treated, said air containing free O 2 capable of reducing the COD of the sludge by 2-4%, the reaction pressure being kept below 10 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> during the oxidation treatment which lasts for at least 30 minutes. Apparatus for carrying out the treatment is described.
