Abstract
1475375 Diamines SANDOZ Ltd 28 Aug 1974 [31 Aug 1973 4 July 1974] 37510/74 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R 1 =C 1-5 alkyl; R 2 = H, C 1-5 alkyl, CH 2 OH; n = 2-10) and their salts are prepared (a) from a corresponding tetraether by acidolysis or hydrogenolysis, or (b) by condensing the corresponding dihydroxyphenethylamine and an alkylene dihalide, optionally followed by salt formation. The preparation of N-acetyl-3,4-dimethoxy- 6 - chloromethyl and 6 - methylphenethylamine, 3,4 - dimethoxy - 6 - methylphenethylamine and its hydrochloride, adipic acid bis(3,4-dimethory- 6 - methylphenethylamide) and N,N - bis(3,4- dimethovy - 6 - methylphenethyl)hexamethylene diamine and its hydrochloride is described. The above compounds are anti-hypertensive agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
