Abstract
1475026 Controlling ore sintering CENTRE DE RECHERCHES METALLURGIQUESCENTRUM VOOR RESEARCH IN DE METALLURGIE 16 July 1975 [19 July 1974] 29805/75 Heading ClA [Also in Division G3] A method controlling sintering of ores comprises determining the temperature distribution along a transverse zone of the upper surface of the sintering bed at the outlet of the mixture ignition hood by means of a radiation detector and controlling the ignition conditions accordingly. The radiation detector is preferably a pyrometer for IR covering 400-1,000‹ C. Scanning of the temperature profile may be performed by means of oscillating or rotating mirrors or by oscillating the detector about an axis. In the example, the signal from the detector is amplified, de-modulated and applied to an oscilloscope for displaying in real time, a sampling unit and a small computer. The computer or sampling unit may control various parameters, such as flow rate of fuel gas, in order to control the ignition of the mixture.
