Abstract

1474366 Rifle J R LIGHT and G L HART 17 April 1974 [31 Jan 1973] 4737/73 Heading F3C A rifle, in combination with a recoil-transferring member 16, has a stock 11 of wood for example and has a metallic receiver 15 from which the barrel 13 of the rifle extends. The recoil-transferring member 16 is held to the receiver 15 by screws 28, 29, is secured by adhesive to the stock 11 and is made of a material having a greater resistance to compression than the material of the stock. The receiver 15 has a flat surface 20 engaging a flat surface 17 of the member 16 and the latter is held to the stock 11 by pins 25, 26, in addition to the adhesive. The screws 28, 29 also serve to retain a trigger guard 27. On firing the rifle, recoil forces are applied to the member 16 via the surfaces 20 and 17.
