Abstract

1474178 Baling; compressing straw L H RAYNER 24 July 1974 [18 Aug 1973 16 March 1974] 39149/73 and 11765/74 Headings B5F and B5A A straw baler comprises means 36 for coating the straw with a resin adhesive or a fast curing elastomer adhesive prior to or during baling and means for discharging the baled straw on to the field or into a following vehicle. The straw is supplied through an inlet passage 10, containing oscillating fingers 14 and optionally a cutting device, into a cylinder 24 where it is compressed by a piston 28 at a pressure set by a device 34 in the piston drive. Adhesive is applied to the straw through ports 36 in the piston 28 and/or side wall of the cylinder 24. The compressed mass of straw is ejected by a piston 42. The compressing piston 28 may be replaced by a series of rollers and the baling may be continuous, the baled material being cut to a selected size.
