Abstract

Fountains.-In a drinking-fountain head, a stream of water is projected from the jet 19 under the influence of a constant head in the stand pipe 29, to which, on pressing down the knob 27, water is admitted through the valve 24, ducts 31 in the admission tube 26, and similar ducts 32. A guard tube 33 carries leakage upwards to a loose washer 34 at a point where it will not interfere with the outflow through the jet 19, which is also protected from the overflow from the stand pipe 29 by a flange 14. This latter overflow escapes past the loose spreader washer 30 and passes out through holes in the part 12. An oval guard-ring 35 prevents the lipfrom being applied to the nozzle 19. Fig. 4 shows the head with the outer casing removed.
