Abstract
147,338. Jacombs, J. H. B. Dec. 23, 1919. Barrel apparatus; supporting electrodes; connexions.-An anode is in two parts mounted on separate carriers which enter the barrel through openings in its ends. The anode conductors 6, Fig. 2, may be inserted in grooves in the wooden anode carriers 4, 5, Fig. 1, and covered by wooden strips 8. Pins 7 screwing into the anode conductors are tapered so as to prevent the anodes falling off as they dissolve away. The pins may be protected, say by rubber tubes. Contact studs 12 in the barrel are connected by covered strips 13 to a slip ring 14, the strips being preferably curved so that each is at any moment in connexion with at least one stud in contact with the work. A spilt stationary wooden collar 15, through which passes a contact brush 16, protects the slip ring. The barrel may be supported by rollers. Lodgment of articles on the anode and carrier may be prevented by a screen.
