Abstract

1473181 Mould closing means A KURTZ 7 May 1974 20089/74 Heading B5A An injection moulding machine comprises first and second mould parts 31, 35, actuating means 40-50 operatively connected to the second mould part 35 for axially engaging and moving the first mould part with the second mould part, and biasing means, e.g. a spring 60, operatively connected to the actuating means for applying a substantially uniform pressure to the second mould part 35 when it engages and moves the first mould part. The actuating means comprises a lever 40 pivoted at 51 on a block 52 slidably mounted between guide rails 53 and biased to the right in Fig. 2 by the spring 60. The lever 40 is moved to and fro by means of a link 41, crank 43, pulley 46, belt 47 and transmission 49 driven by an electric motor 50. When the actuating means moves the mould part 35 to the left in Fig. 2 the mould part 35 moves part 31 into engagement with an injection nozzle 27 and then moves an injection cylinder over a stationary plunger 21 against the action of springs 23.
