Abstract

1472087 Flexible abrasive materials ETHICON Inc 3 July 1974 [24 Sept 1973] 29489/74 Heading C4V [Also in Division A5] A device for cleaning the tip of an electrosurgical instrument comprises a resiliently compressible foamed rubber or foamed plastics material, an adhesive coating on one face of the pad for securing the pad to a surgical drape or other operating room surface and abrasive means on the other face of the pad. The coating is preferably a pharmaceutically acceptable adhesive and the foam material is preferably a polyester foam. A backing sheet may completely cover the adhesive coating. The abrasive means may be a layer of abrasive granules such as aluminium oxide granules.
