Abstract
1471938 Spark gaps NISSIN ELECTRIC CO Ltd 29 May 1974 [9 June 1973] 23861/74 Heading H1D A crowbar switch comprises a start gap between electrodes 1 and 3 with a trigger electrode 5 therein, and a further gap between electrodes 1 and 2 with a trigger elctrode 4 therein, said gaps being positioned close to each other so that the photons and thermoelectro s induced by the arc produced by a discharge in said start gap ionize the ambient gas about said further gap for easier occurrence of a discharge in said further gap. Trigger electrode 4 can be adjusted in position by moving its support rod 35 axially. The switch is connected as shown to transfer energy from a capacitor A to a coil C and then short circuit the coil.
