Abstract

1471359 Calendar watches SOC SUISSE POUR L'INDUSTRIE HORLOGERE MANAGEMENT SERVICES SA 6 Aug 1974 [17 Aug 1973] 34622/74 Heading G3T In a calendar watch, an intermediate wheel 25 has an arbor 24 which can be moved along a slot 27 in a frame element of the watch, a correction lever 34 being frictionally coupled to the arbor 24 and carrying a day and date corrector 29 which is rotated by wheel 25. As described, a control stem 9 has three axial positions: (i) An inner, winding position, Fig. 1 (not shown) in which a lever 18 presses an axiallyslidable castle wheel 17 mounted on stem 9 into engagement with a winding wheel 14; (ii) a middle, calendar correction position, Fig. 2, in which lever 18 presses castle wheel 17 against intermediate wheel 25 ; in this position anticlockwise rotation of the stem rotates wheel 25 such that, by virtue of the frictional coupling between arbor 24 and lever 34, corrector 29 moves along a further slot 32 to engage a day star wheel 3; similarly clockwise rotation of stem 9 causes a date ring 1 to be corrected; (iii) an outer, time-of-day setting position, Fig. 3 (not shown) in which wheels 17, 25 are still in engagement but arbor 24 is displaced by arm 22 against the action of a hair-spring 28 to the opposite end of slot 27 so that wheel 25 additionally engages a minute wheel 38; in this position lever 34 banks against a stud 35 and part 22 of lever 18 engages the arbor 31 of corrector 29 so that corrector 29 is held clear of the calendar indicators 1,3. Corrector 29 comprises a wheel 30 and pinion 33 which are frictionally inter-connected so that should correction of day star wheel 3 be attempted whilst it is engaged by the calendar driving mechanism, relative rotation of wheel 30 and pinion 33 can occur. The watch may be electric, in which case position (i) above is an inoperative position. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1234004 and 1140930.
