Abstract

1471214 Droplet separator PEERLESS MFG CO 10 April 1974 [13 April 1973] 16000/74 Heading BIT A water droplet separator assembly (e.g. for marine gas turbine air intakes) comprises a first impingement baffle separator 44, a coalescing pad 46 and a further impingement baffle separator 48, arranged sequentially closely, adjacent each other. Liquid droplets drain down the baffles and are removed from an underlying channel through a pipe (60, Fig. 3 not shown). An array of assemblies (e.g. four) may be placed in zig-zag fashion upstream of the gas turbine in a hood (34 Fig. 1 not shown) having an upward entry to prevent waves and spray splashing into the intake, and the coalescing pad is accessible through bolted cover 53. The assembly may be used in steam generating plant or natural gas pipes.
