Abstract

1404588 Separator for removing liquid particles from gas stream DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 27 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 54976/71 Heading BIT In a separator comprising upright corrugated vanes 1 between which gas flows and on which liquid particles therin are caught, the lower ends of the vanes extend into a trough 6 which is packed with knitted or felted polypropylene or sponge-like material, which allows liquid to drain from the vanes and inhibits the gas flow through the trough (Fig 3, not shown) which would otherwise tend to re-entrain such liquid. The vanes may have drainage channels along their angles (Fig 2, not shown) and are supported on ledges 5 in an open frame (Fig 1, not shown). The separator may remove salt water from the air intake of a marine turbine engine.
