Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate water contained in the air in an air cleaner by providing a plurality of partitions and a filter arranged downstream of these partitions substantially horizontally within the air cleaner.
CONSTITUTION: The inside of an air cleaner 10 is divided into the first expansion chamber A having an air inlet 11, the second expansion chamber B defined by a pair of partitions 22 and 27 which fix a pipe 28 and another pair of partitions 21 and 26 which fix another pipe 29, and the third expansion chamber C defined on the side opposite to the partitions 21 and 26. Above these expansion chambers A, B and C, there is arranged a filter 40 supported substantially horizontally by supporters 42 and 43. The air passes through the filter 40 from its lower side to its upper side, with the water contained in the air separated and pooled in the bottom portion of a casing body 20 of the air cleaner 10. Then the air thus removed with water is supplied to the engine through a vertical duct 30 and a connecting hose 12.
