Abstract
147,083. Blum, U. March 14, 1919, [Convention date]. Periscopes.-In periscopes, the ocular of which does not move in or out with the sliding tube, the rays of light emerge from the sliding tube in a downward direction and the ocular is arranged so that the descending tube may pass through the stationary part containing the ocular. To facilitate this movement, the optical parts situated in the stationary part containing the ocular are moved out of the path of the descending tube. As an example, the mirror 4, normally pressed by a spring 5 against a stop 6, is pushed by the descending tube into a recess 7, and the field lens 8 may also be folded into a recess against a spring 9.
