1469423 Difluoromethyl fluoropropyl ethers BAXTER TRAVENOL LABORATORIES Inc 13 May 1974 [25 June 1973] 21057/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] Novel difluoromethyl 2,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropyl ether is prepared by reacting 2,2,3,3,3- pentafluoropropanol with chlorodifluoromethane in the presence of a strong alkali. Novel difluoromethyl 1,1,2,3,3,3-hexafluoropropyl ether is prepared by reacting dichloromethyl 1,1,2,3,3,3-hexafluoropropyl ether with bromine trifluoride (monochloromonofluoromethyl 1,1,2,3,3,3 - hexafluoropropyl ether may be obtained as a by-product). Dichloromethyl 1,1,2,3,3,3 - hexafluoropropylether is prepared by reacting methyl 1,1,2,3,3,3- hexafluoropropyl ether with chlorine under ultraviolet irradiation. Trichloromethyl 1,1,2,3,3,3 - hexafluoropropyl ether and monochloromethyl 1,1,2,3,3,3 - hexafluoropropyl ether may be obtained as by-products in this reaction.
